Vision, Mission, and Objectives
Vision:
The department’s vision is to achieve excellence in providing distinguished scientific, educational services in the English language, literature, and translation at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, in the fields of teaching, scientific research, and community service.
Mission:
- Preparing educational and research cadres specialized in English language and literature and translation, to contribute to meeting local, Arab, and international needs.
- Conducting research and serious studies in the service of the English language, Arabic language, and human knowledge.
- Serving the local community with regard to the English language and its literature and translation through activities, lectures, seminars, and conferences that the department holds, or participates in.
Objectives:
- Graduating adequately qualified cadres in English language and literature and translation at various levels, in accordance with the university’s philosophy and mission.
- Discovering talents and developing them among students, to enable them to be creative in the field of language.
- The learner’s contact with the heritage and civilization of his nation, especially in the field of language and literature, and translation.
- Making use of modern science and technology data in the field of language learning and acquisition.
- Meet the needs of the local, Arab, and regional community of specialists in the language, to work in the scientific, educational, media, and administrative fields.
- Students' acquisition of appropriate knowledge and information in language, literature and translation, in its various skills.
- Developing students' linguistic and literary taste, in order to enable them to have a correct judgment on what they hear or read.
