The department of Civil engineering at Zarqa university prepares the future civil engineers with the knowledge and skills necessary for the various challenges during their careers. These include design, construction and maintenance of structures. The student learns about structural theory, soil mechanics, transport engineering, hydraulics and hydrology, surveying, and the principles of project management. In addition, the department offers the students a variety of elective courses which they can choose from based on their inclinations and unique abilities. The labs facilitate the application of the knowledge and provide hands-on experience. The staff in the department are able, due to their particular specialties, to cover the wide range of sub-disciplines that are encompassed within civil engineering. Consistent with the university vision, the department aims to improve the labs and increase the research output with an emphasis on the local needs in Jordan.
