The Faculty of Arts was established in 1994 and has witnessed remarkable growth and development, both quantitatively and qualitatively, becoming one of the largest and most distinguished faculties at the university in terms of student enrollment, academic staff, and academic programs. The Faculty is also a founding member of the Association of Faculties of Arts in the Arab World, which operates under the Association of Arab Universities affiliated with the League of Arab States.
The Faculty comprises three academic departments and one academic unit: the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, the Department of English Language, Literature and Translation, the Department of History, and the Service Courses Coordination Unit.
Throughout its academic journey, the Faculty has achieved numerous significant accomplishments. Among its most notable achievements is that students of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature have ranked first in the University Competency Examination on more than one occasion among both public and private universities in Jordan.
The Faculty has consistently worked to promote and preserve the Arabic language while preparing highly qualified specialists capable of serving their country and contributing to the needs of society through research and scholarly studies. It has also maintained a strong commitment to academic excellence by organizing an international scientific conference every two years and an annual scientific day. Furthermore, the Faculty provides an integrated academic environment through modern laboratories and advanced facilities, particularly the digital laboratories of the Department of English Language, Literature and Translation.
The number of graduates from the Faculty of Arts has exceeded 4,606 students, while its academic staff consists of 63 faculty members holding doctoral and master's degrees in a wide range of academic disciplines. These faculty members are graduates of prestigious international universities and have made distinguished scholarly and research contributions in their respective fields.
Courses offered by the Faculty are taught in both Arabic and English, depending on the nature of the department and its academic programs.
