Zarqa University won first place,
six gold medals, and one bronze medal at the Fourth Middle East and
International Karate Clubs Championship, organized by the Jordanian Karate
Federation at the Orthodox Club Halls in Amman, with the participation of
approximately (900) male and female players from various categories.
Student Alaa Raja Shaheen from the Faculty
of Pharmacy won first place and the gold medal in the individual combat/men
under 84 kg weight category, while student Muhammad Shaheen from the Faculty of
Pharmacy won first place and the gold medal in the over 84 kg weight category.
Student Muhammad Hussein Hosni from
the Faculty of Information Technology won first place and the gold medal in the
under 67 kg weight category for men, while student Izz al-Din Hamida from the Faculty
of Allied Medical Sciences won third place and the bronze medal in the under 67
kg weight category. The university team, consisting of students Mohammed
Shaheen, Alaa Rajaa Shaheen, and Mohammed Hussein Hosni, also won first place
and the gold medal in the men's team fighting competition, adding a new
achievement to Zarqa University's sports credentials.
Prof. Dr. Nidal Al-Ramahi, Zarqa
University President, expressed his pride in this distinction, noting that the
university always strives to empower students academically and athletically,
reflecting its integrated educational mission.
He emphasized that the university is
moving toward excellence in various fields thanks to the support provided by
the Board of Directors of the Zarqa Educational and Investment Company, headed
by Dr. Mahmoud Abu Shaira, who devotes great attention to supporting sports and
youth activities, given their role in highlighting students' potential and
honing their skills.
Dr. Mukhled Al-Zoubi, Dean of
Students’ Affairs, also commended the efforts of the players and the
accompanying administrative and technical staff, emphasizing that the deanship
continues to support student activities that contribute to raising the
university's profile in various local and international forums.
The tournament concluded with the
crowning of the winning teams, with Zarqa University raising its flag high on
the podium after securing top honors in one of the strongest karate tournaments
in the region.
