The Evening Studies Program was
established with the aim of providing opportunities for employees in both the
public and private sectors to pursue university education, enhance their
academic qualifications, improve their professional competencies, and support
their career development. Through this program, the University sought to
overcome the obstacles faced by individuals wishing to obtain their first
university degree by making effective use of its academic, technical, and
physical resources.
Accordingly, the University launched
the program at the beginning of the 2000/2001 academic year. Students were
admitted to a range of academic programs, including English Language and
Literature, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Business
Administration, Management Information Systems, Accounting, Banking and
Financial Sciences, and Law.
The University has been committed to
providing evening students with all necessary services during their official
study hours. This has included extending the working hours of staff in the
Admission and Registration Department, the Financial Department, and the
Deanship of Student Affairs. The University has also provided transportation
services, library and internet access, restaurants, medical clinic services, a
bookshop, and sports facilities.
The University offers a
comprehensive bachelor's degree program during the evening period from 4:30 p.m.
to 7:30 p.m. Evening-program students are also permitted to register for
courses offered jointly with the morning program after 2:00 p.m.
In accordance with the directives of
His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein to help alleviate the economic burdens
on citizens, and through the generous support of the University's Board of
Directors, represented by its Chairman, Dr. Mahmoud Abu Shaera, tuition
discounts have been granted to students enrolled in the Evening Studies
Program, reaching up to 60% in most academic programs.
The number of students enrolled in
the Evening Studies Program during the first semester of the 2014/2015 academic
year reached approximately 800 male and female students.
Future Aspirations
The Deanship seeks to expand its evening
study programs in response to the needs of the local community. It also aims to
attract a larger number of working professionals and support their advancement
toward higher levels of creativity and excellence by introducing new academic
programs that serve a broader range of working students.
