Student Hanwiya Adam Hasaballah,
from the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Zarqa University,
won first place and the gold medal in the Second International Umm al-Jimal
Archaeological Race, a 10-km race for women, achieving first place in both the
overall score and age group.
The race was held on Saturday, July
12th, 2025, in the Umm al-Jimal area of Mafraq Governorate. It was
organized by the Al-Kom Al-Ahmar Sports Club, in cooperation with the Umm
al-Jimal Municipality and the Jordan Athletics Federation, to mark the
Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan's 79th Independence Day.
The race saw widespread
participation from local, Arab, and international competitors, totaling 1,483 male
and female competitors of various ages and categories.
The race was sponsored by His
Excellency Engineer Wajdi Al-Dalaeen, the Minister of Local Administration, His
Excellency the Secretary-General of the Ministry, and attended by Dr. Mukhled
Al-Zoubi, Dean of Students’ Affairs at Zarqa University, representing His
Excellency Dr. Mahmoud Abu Shaira, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Zarqa
Educational and Investment Company.
Prof. Dr. Nidal Al-Ramahi, President
of Zarqa University, emphasized that "independence represents a moment of
pride and dignity for every Jordanian man and woman, and that preserving its
gains and building the nation is a shared responsibility among the people of
this generous country."
He praised the achievements of the
university and its students at the local and international levels, emphasizing
that these successes are the result of the university's continued interest in
extracurricular activities and its commitment to providing a stimulating
environment that supports students' talents and enhances their presence in
various forums, thus reflecting a distinguished image of higher education in
Jordan.
Al-Ramahi praised the great support
provided by His Excellency Dr. Mahmoud Abu Shaira, Chairman of the Board of
Directors of Zarqa Educational and Investment Company, to students and their
activities, emphasizing that this support contributes effectively to motivating
students to actively participate in national, sporting, and cultural events.
Dr. Mukhled Al-Zoubi, Dean of
Students’ Affairs at Zarqa University, expressed his pride in the achievement
of student Hanwiya Adam Hasaballah, emphasizing that this victory represents
the fruit of the continuous efforts of the Deanship's Sports Activities
Division staff in professionally preparing and training students to participate
in various tournaments and competitions.
He added that the university is
always keen to hone students' skills and develop their athletic and cultural
abilities, believing in the role of extracurricular activities in building a
well-rounded personality qualified to compete and excel. He praised the high
level of commitment and dedication demonstrated by the participating students.
At the conclusion of the race, the
winners were honored and prizes were distributed in a wide official and
community presence.
