Zarqa University marked a distinguished international sporting achievement after student Khaled Sobhi Al-Fahmawi, from the Faculty of Pharmacy, secured third place and the bronze medal in the Men’s Under 63 kg category at the 10th Al Hassan International Open Taekwondo Championship 2026, a G1-ranked event officially recognized by World Taekwondo.
The championship kicked off on Friday, 7 August 2026, at the Arena Hall in Al Hussein Youth City in Amman, with the participation of approximately 560 male and female athletes representing 24 countries from around the world, in addition to the World Refugee Team. The event featured highly competitive matches and brought together elite taekwondo athletes from the international stage.
The championship holds particular significance as a G1-ranked tournament sanctioned by World Taekwondo, allowing participating athletes to earn international ranking points. This classification raises the level of competition and attracts athletes from a wide range of international taekwondo schools and backgrounds.
Al-Fahmawi delivered a strong performance throughout the tournament and succeeded in securing third place and the bronze medal in the Under 63 kg category. His achievement adds another international accolade to Zarqa University’s sporting record and demonstrates the ability of its students to compete successfully and achieve outstanding results in international championships.
