Zarqa University physics graduate Rukaya Mohammad Aljuneid has achieved a distinguished academic milestone after receiving a scholarship to pursue her PhD studies at Université de Lorraine in Nancy, France, where she will continue her academic and research journey in physics.

Aljuneid graduated from Zarqa University with a bachelor’s degree in Physics in 2024 before pursuing postgraduate studies in condensed matter physics through a master’s program at the ICTP–East African Institute for Fundamental Research (ICTP-EAIFR) in Rwanda.

She recently defended her master’s thesis in Kigali, Rwanda, where she also delivered a research presentation on her thesis topic. This achievement marks another significant milestone in an academic and research journey that began at the Department of Physics at Zarqa University.

Dean of the Faculty of Science at Zarqa University, Prof. Dr. Alia Burqan, said that this achievement reflects the distinguished academic caliber of the University’s graduates. She noted that Aljuneid’s progression to doctoral studies at a French university demonstrates her ability to continue excelling in scientific research and academia.

Burqan expressed her pride in Aljuneid’s accomplishment, reaffirming the Faculty of Science’s commitment to supporting its students and graduates and encouraging them to pursue advanced studies and engage in scientific research, thereby strengthening their academic presence at both the regional and international levels.

This achievement further highlights the importance of the academic and research environment provided by Zarqa University and its role in preparing highly qualified graduates capable of pursuing postgraduate studies and achieving distinction at leading international universities and research institutions.

Head of the Department of Physics at the Faculty of Science, Dr. Riyad Al-Masharfeh, also congratulated Aljuneid on her achievement, expressing pride in her academic and research progress. He emphasized that her success reflects the strong scientific capabilities of the Department of Physics graduates and their readiness to pursue advanced studies at prestigious universities and research institutions worldwide.
