Since its establishment, Zarqa University has been committed to supporting innovation, entrepreneurial and creative projects, encouraging entrepreneurship and creativity, and fostering and protecting distinguished ideas. In pursuit of this commitment, the University initially established a Business Incubator Unit, which was later developed into the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
The Center was established in alignment with the University's vision and strategic objectives to promote business development, encourage creativity and innovation, support technology transfer and patent development, and foster a spirit of competitiveness and economic orientation by transforming innovative and creative ideas into productive and sustainable projects.
Recognizing the important creative role of students and faculty members in scientific research, the University expanded the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship to include four main units:
- Business Incubator Unit: Responsible for incubating and managing entrepreneurial projects.
- Technology Transfer Unit: Responsible for strengthening the University's relationships with industry and commerce.
- Intellectual Property Unit: Responsible for the registration and protection of patents and intellectual property rights.
- Marketing Unit: Responsible for marketing the products and outcomes of the Business Incubator.
It is worth noting that the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship established the Business Incubator Unit to accelerate the growth and success of entrepreneurial ventures by providing a comprehensive range of resources and services. These include workspace, access to funding opportunities, training, administrative and support services, networking opportunities, as well as technical expertise, equipment, and facilities. Entrepreneurs and innovators also receive technical and administrative guidance from experienced specialists in relevant fields.
The Center began its operations within an advanced and supportive environment designed to achieve its objectives, and it aspires to play a strategic role in meeting the requirements of economic development by encouraging and fostering youth-led, innovation-based enterprises.
The Center also aims to protect the intellectual property rights of innovators and facilitate the registration and filing of their innovations with specialized authorities at both the local and international levels. In addition, it seeks to strengthen links between the University, industry, and commerce through the Technology Transfer Unit, while supporting the marketing of Business Incubator products in local and international markets.
The importance of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship lies in its active role in attracting innovators and emerging entrepreneurs who bring their ideas and creative concepts to the Business Incubator. The Center supports them in launching and managing their ventures, enhancing their prospects for success, and protecting their intellectual property rights.
Zarqa University's Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship provides an incubation program during the early stages of a project in order to increase its chances of success. The program offers a comprehensive package of services, including business-plan development, education and training, legal and administrative consultancy, marketing support, and adequate workspace. These services help start-up ventures overcome the challenges of the establishment phase, shorten the time required to enter the market, and reduce the likelihood of project failure.
